Salt Winds and Gobi Dust

Salt Winds and Gobi Dust draft cover

Final cover of Salt Winds and Gobi Dust

Salt Winds and Gobi Dust was a collection of short stories by Col. John W. Thomason Jr. who is the namesake of our Special Collections department. The short stories were inspired by his time spent in China and Central America.

The top image is a draft of the cover artwork that would be used in the 1st edition of Salt Winds and Gobi Dust. You can compare it to the final cover below it.

Notice any big changes?

  1. James, I have a copy of Salt winds autographed to a lady in Terrell, also have some Thomason photographs from estate sale when Peggy Holton owned the Bass home on Griffith ave in Terrell, I consider it one of his greatest works

  2. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all.
Nevertheless imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this blog could definitely be one of the greatest in its niche.
    Wonderful blog!
