Letter from Confederate General John Gregg

This letter comes from Brigadier General John Gregg, a confederate general who fought in a number of battles including the Battle of Chickamauga, Battle of the Wilderness, and Battle of Cold Harbor. Gregg commanded the famous Hood’s Texas Brigade at the battles of the Wilderness and Cold Harbor. The letter is written a few weeks (May 25, 1864) after being wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness (May 6, 1864). Gregg would later lose his life at the Siege of Petersburg in October of 1864.
